Help! My husband is 70 years old and mean as a snake. His momma is 93 and mean, too. He is anxious, depressed, manic, compulsive and obsessive, 99% of the time, and, always has been. What term do I give this to ask a doctor for help? I am A.D.H.D. and I take Concerta. I am amazed that I got to be an adult with out it. I KNOW what meds are doing for me. And, I want help for my husband. Lexapro has been mentioned. Oh yeah, he also doesn't think he has a problem. It is everyone else pissing(sorry--crude) him off. I want to do my research first. Then, pray that he will take it. Thanks. I feel silly doing this. I am not on the computer much and do not know how this works. Thanks, again.

PLEASE don't take klonopin, or any drug from the benzodiazapine class !
You will regret it if you do, as these drugs are extremely addictive and will cause more suffering than you had before starting on them.
Visit benzo.org.uk for a better understanding of the horrors of benzo addiction and long term effects.

I agree with .2 FREEBIRD. I have had this thing for 15 years. My main symptoms is that my head feels so wierd I cannot even describe but it's debiltating because I can't work, socialize etc. I have tried so much therapy, Lucinda basset, the linden method, you name it, I tried it. The only time I find relief is on paxil. The problem is that it works for a year then it requires more, that is when I stop & try to heal myself & I am strong believe me & I cannot do it. This wierd head feels wierd PERIOD even though it started feeling this way because of anxiety & fear but now with that gone, I still feel my head wierd because after so many years of feeding it the wrong thing.................it still believes it & runs a bad program........so how do you fix that??? Medication, nothing else can work. My wierd head is so unbearable I have missed soo much in life with friends & family, hey if anyone has felt the same let me know or wants to say something in regards to what I wrote, please do so................FRAZZELME

Hey Pete,
Thanks for your comment. I hope you will talk to your doctor about going back on the Paxil. Once you felt better you should not have messed with the balance. Did your doctor agree that you should go off it, or did you do this on your own? Do you have a long history of the sa and gad? If so, consider strongly that you might need to be on medication basically forever. Better living through chemistry, right? Thank God we live in a time that these anti-anxiety meds are available for us. You know in your heart that if your "head is still in the wrong place" you need help. DON'T SUFFER. The tranx are just a temporary bandaid.
Good luck. Stay in touch.

freebird i have sa and gad and the use of seroxat(paxil in usa)helped me a lot i was on it for 3 years and i was getting on with life with no thoughts of my sa to the extent i was before.
they was helping so much i tended not to take them everyday as my "illness" was put to the background.

anyways i stopped after 3 years and went on klonopin as and when required-but im thinking i need to go back on the paxil as my head is still in the wrong place-tranx help with the anxiety for a short term but i need the long term help that the paxil gave me.

seaviewer you may be anxious and distressed but dont take it out on someone who has found the mix of meds that work for them
